A strong tropical wave has developed into the first tropical depression of the year. Conditions are favorable for the system to slowly develop possibly into Tropical Storm "Alex" as it slowly moves toward the NW toward the North Carolina Coast. A tropical Storm Watch is in effect from Edisto Beach, South Carolina to Cape Hatteras, North Carolina
