The first Tropical Storm of the Atlantic season; "Alex" formed today. The the center of the storm was just south of due east of Savannah or about 90 miles south of Charleston and was mostly stationary during the day. Most of the convection associated with this storm is south of the center of rotation off the Georgia coast in the warm waters of 85 degrees. A tropical Storm Watch is in effect from Edisto Beach, South Carolina to South Santee River, SC with a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from there to Cape Hatteras, North Carolina with the watch from there to Oregon Inlet, NC.

The Satellite passed over the area from SSE to NNW at 7:19 PM EDT.
