History:

"Bonnie", the second tropical storm of the Atlantic season formed Tuesday morning, August 3, from a westward moving tropical wave east of the Windward Island. As it entered into the eastern Caribbean, upper level wind shear weakened the storm into an open wave. It continued moving westward and emerged into the southern Gulf of Mexico under a favorable environment and redeveloped into a tropical storm on the ninth. The storm then moved northward making landfall near St. Marks in the Florida big bend area as a moderate tropical storm. The storm moved to the NE passing near Savannah dumping over 3 inches of rain in the city of Savannah producing heavy street flooding. The storm spawned several small tornadoes along its path.
